Accounts

Updated

Tables live in accounts. An account has its own tables, groups, and data, and the people who work in it each sign in as themselves. You, its manager, set it up and run it, then hand day-to-day work to the right people through groups.

Getting one

Create one yourself: pick Add account in the menu ☰ opens at the top left, or on the Accounts page, its last tile. Choose a username — it becomes the account's address — and it's ready immediately, with you as its manager. Give it a name people see — "Taller Norte" — in its Settings › Account: it titles the account's page and names it on the Accounts page, in the account menu, in emails and over its tables in the DataWasi apps. Until then it goes by its username.

Opening it

The Accounts page shows every account you can enter, each with how many of its tables you can see; pick one for a page of its tables. Inside, its page is titled with its picture and name, and its username starts the top bar, a link back to that page, beside ☰, which opens the accounts you were in last, to switch between them. As its manager you have full access — build tables from its page, and create groups and assign permissions from its Settings page, a tile each for Account, Groups and permissions, and Billing. Settings beside its page's title opens it, and so do the ⚙ beside its name in the account menu (☰, at the top left) and the ⚙ at the end of the account's tile on the Accounts page.

Let others help

Permission settings — managing groups and invitations — stay with you, the manager, in the account's Groups and permissions. But once you give a group manager access to a table, members of that group can set up that table themselves. They just can't change who has access.

Closing an account

When you no longer need an account, open its Account settings, then Account, and pick Close account at the bottom — only its manager can. The page lists everything that will be deleted: its tables and records, its files, its groups and the people who lose access, and the public links to its records. Type the account's name to confirm.

  • Keep a backup if you want one: a ZIP with every table as a CSV file, with or without its files. It appears under Closed accounts on your Accounts page for 30 days, then it's deleted. Records in the trash aren't included.
  • A backup can hold up to 100 MB. If it's bigger, nothing is closed and you get an email; ask again with a backup of the tables only, or none.
  • If the account has a paid plan, closing waits until the plan ends — cancel it in Billing. Until then the account keeps working, and Keep the account takes the request back.
Closing can't be undone. DataWasi's own backups keep a copy for up to 30 days; after that, nothing is left.
