Records laid out like the paper they came on
A big week. Records can now look — and print — like the invoice or order they came from, you can walk through a list one record at a time, and an email is all it takes to add records to an account. Here's everything that shipped.
Record layouts, full screen and print
Whoever manages a table can now lay its records out like the paper they come on. In the table's settings (⚙), Edit the layout opens a preview of one record: put sections side by side, set each field's size, alignment and label, and choose how many columns a section has.
Rather not place every field? Describe the layout under Lay it out with AI, or tick Like its document to copy a record's PDF or photo — and tables designed from documents come laid out already. Every record then has Full screen and Print (or save it as a PDF), and you choose whether empty fields are hidden or shown with a dash, like a form.
Step through a list, one record at a time
Open a record from a table, the gallery, the map or the calendar and it stays in that list: “3 of 12” sits by its title, between previous and next arrows — or use the ← and → keys. The ends wrap around, and ✕ takes you back to the list right where that record is: on the map with its pin open, on the calendar at its month.
Email records into an account
Every account now has its own address, like
taller@datawasi.app, and every table one more, liketaller+gastos@datawasi.app. Send or forward a message there and its photos and PDFs become records — the AI reads them along with the message — while spreadsheets import as if you'd uploaded them. A message with no attachment becomes a record of its own, and Gmail's automatic forwarding works too.You get one reply saying what became of each part, with links. Copy the addresses from the account's Import records page or a table's New record page; they work for anyone who can add records, from an email confirmed on their profile.
Documents keep all their data
Whether it comes in an import, an email, a photo or a table you design from it, everything a document holds now lands: an invoice's lines fill its line-items field row by row, and the customer or supplier it names is linked — found by name, or added when it's new.
Each table also keeps AI instructions, in its settings below the fields — whose invoices these are, say, so the AI knows the customer is the one billed, not you. Claude and other connected assistants now build tables the same way.
Filter on the rows inside a record
In the search box, a line-items field now opens up its columns: pick one, a matcher and a value, and you get
line_items.title:hammerorline_items.qty:>10— the records with any row that matches. It works in saved views, in the API and with Claude too.A new way around
The top bar starts with the account, then the table, whose name opens a menu of every table, All records and the table's views, with a box to filter them. On the right: + for a new record, ⚙ for the table's settings, ? for help and ☰ for your menu, an icon on every row. An account's Settings is now a page of tiles, and the Accounts page lists every account you can enter.
Also new
- Each reference field gets its own tab on the records it points at — a customer's Invoices, say — named after the table, with a count. Rename it or turn it off in the field's settings.
- The calendar is one grid of weeks you scroll through, loading earlier and later months as you go, with Today always in reach.
- Whoever runs an account can close it from Account settings, after a warning — with an optional backup of every table as CSV, kept for 30 days.
- Tables keep their name as written — “Órdenes de compra”, accents and all — and names keep their ñ: año, not ano.
- A money amount worked out by a formula keeps its cents.
- Importing, a reference column can name records the way their table shows them (a name, an invoice number), and a file's sheets import in order, so the ones others point at go first.
- Photos and PDFs the AI reads now fill in money fields too.
- A record sits right under its table in the address, like
/taller/gastos/42, and old links still work. - A record's controls sit in one row, with a ✕ to close it — and the New record page has a ✕ to cancel.
- Fields can share a section on the record page, and activity moves to a column beside it, with the comment box open.
- Rich text reads the same on the record page as in the editor.
- On datawasi.com, a page for each part of DataWasi, told with small animated demos, and a language picker in the footer.
